A perceptual image system constructed through directional line fields that operate at the threshold of recognition.
Adversarial (2024–) studies a threshold: where machine vision fails, and human cognition diverges from itself.
The works present figures from shared visual memory, rendered as time-based loops that refuse to settle. Given the entire sequence, a frontier multimodal model cannot identify the figure. A human viewer often can — though not all viewers, and not the same face.
What separates one viewer from another is not perception. It is what came before.
Series I consists of nine works, finite. Each carries a code — and a figure withheld.
